subject: Need To Encourage Higher Education [print this page] India as a whole country has seen a lot of ups and down, from the time it became independent. Forget about the time- period before independence, it was in anyways full of difficulties and where technology was a word, which was not even known to people. Education was a field, which was given the least importance and citizens of the country, barely used to send their children to schools or colleges. But, with the change in time and the changing ideologies of the common man today, the field of education has gained importance and people are becoming aware of the benefits of being educated. The schools and colleges of India are spreading awareness among the citizens of the country, and instilling the values of an educated nation.
Though, the country has developed to a great extent, the number of schools and colleges in India have increased a lot and more number of students are enrolling for secondary as well as higher educational degrees. The government is taking measures to increase the number of students taking admissions in the schools and colleges of India. It has also introduced various schemes, wherein the primary education is free and compulsory for every citizen of the country. Not only this, to promote and motivate the education of girl child, the government has also introduced schemes under which the school education of one girl child of each Indian family is free. Most importantly, before the implementation of these schemes, what is most important and necessary is the spreading of the awareness about the reasons, that why is education been referred to as an important element towards the development and growth of the country.
The graph of the country, with respect to its educational growth and achievements has really been fantastic, but what is still lacking behind in the citizens of the country, is to enrol themselves for the higher education. Gaining higher educational degrees or earning degrees like BBA, MBA, BSc, MSc, BCA, MCA, BA, MA, BMC, MMC, from the colleges of India, makes the student capable enough to make himself stand in the tough competitive world and make a flourishing route of success for him. The colleges providing higher education in India, has increased invariably. With the introduction of private educational institutions, the options in terms of colleges for the students have not only increased, but the courses, which a student can opt as his career, has also grown invariably.
In spite of the increase in the number of colleges in India, there are many students in the country, which do not apply for courses in higher education, either they directly join their family business or search for a job, just after completing their senior secondary education. Such cases can mostly be witnessed in the rural areas of the country, where still the people are not aware of the benefits of education. Rural India constitutes more than fifty percent of the total population of the country. It means, that quite a noticeable number of students do not apply for higher education in the colleges of India. This ratio surely makes a remarkable impact on the growth of the country.
Thus, there is a great need to motivate the younger generation of the country to enrol themselves for the degrees for higher education. There are colleges in India, but what would be their use, if students would not take admission in them. Therefore, awareness needs to be created in the lower strata of the society. The people belonging to the lower levels need to understand the importance of education and how an educated generation can help in changing their lifestyle and add a lot to the financial condition of their family. If at least, one member from each family of the country, will earn a satisfactory income, then it would surely help in adding to the growth of the economy as a whole.
