Maip has 12 departments, including one called Ciudad. Framed on the North by Guaymalln y Lavalle, on the East by San Martin, on the Southeast by Junn, on the Southwest by Lujn de Cuyo and on the West by Godoy Cruz. Maip has a good climate, with temperatures that range from -9C to 43C.
Maip is known for its vineyards and wineries, with a total of 167, with 86 actually involved in wine production. In this town we can choose one of the two available circuits and follow the Wine Route, and, in the last week of January we can enjoy the Harvest Festival. During the previous week, the Blessing of the Fruit is celebrated, along with the introduction of the Queens and many other cultural and artistic shows. The central act can be splitted in two phases, the first one with dancing, music, lights and sound; and the second one with the Election of the Maip Harvest Queen.
A few kilometers away from Maip we can reach Guaymalln, one of the oldest cities in Mendoza province. Colonial Guaymalln is probably one of the most interesting parts of the town. There we can see and visit the 19th century houses, particularly the Molina Picos house-museum, constructued in 1780.
The Harvest Festival of Guaymalln is held between December and March. During this celebration the residents dedicate to a huge diversity of outdoor activities in campings and clubs, such as games, folk dancing, sports and shows. The festival finishes with a big celebration where the Guaymalln Harvest Queen is elected and everyone has the chance to enjoy some regional wines in an environment of music, light and fun.
In Guaymalln municipal pools, diving lessons are taught, as well as games especially planned for water. And for the little ones, there are some farms to visit and watch and touch the animals. Those who love the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the capital, can have a great time in the Plaza Shopping and its modern structure before coming back to the Mendoza's 4 Stars Hotel.
