subject: Beating Depression - Psychological Symptoms - Relieving Stress [print this page] DEPRESSIONDEPRESSION. Psychological Symptoms of Depression
Hello, my name is Rod Morgan and, having suffered depression myself for five long years in the 1990s, one of my passions is helping people overcome their depression so they can fully enjoy their lives again.
Now a question I am often asked is, What are the signs and symptoms of depression? Well, here are some of the psychological symptoms -
- feelings of hopelessness and helplessness
- low self esteem
- tearfulness
- feelings of guilt
- feelings of irritability and intolerance of others
- a lack of motivation and less interest in life generally
- difficulty in making decisions
- not enjoying yourself
- feeling anxious and worried
- a reduced sex drive
- sometimes thoughts of suicide or perhaps even harming others
In other articles, we will be looking at the behavioural and the physical signs of depression but these are some of the psychological symptoms, many of which I experienced myself.
Now, there is definately a way back from all of this as I can personally testify.
