subject: Cable Internet Jumpstarts Download Speeds [print this page]

For truly high-speed internet look to your nearest cable company.

More and more I rely on the internet to watch all my favorite programming. Whether streaming or downloading, if I missed it live I'll find it online after. I'm the kind of internet user who demands the fastest download speeds available. Fortunately, I get exactly what I want from my local cable company.

Many internet providers today try to pass off their 1Mbps, or 3Mbps internet connections as "high speed". I guess compared to dialup internet they are, but that's not really a strong point of comparison. That's like saying that sneakers are better winter shoes than sandals. It's true, but that doesn't mean they are great winter shoes. My experience with other providers compared to my high-speed cable internet I'd feel like I was staring at a still portrait, or a computer screen that had frozen. You can really tell the difference when you are trying to stream movies and television shows or when you are loading any page with flash on it.

Cable high speed internet providers today are offering download speed ranging from 6Mbps, to 12Mbps, and all the way up to 24Mbps! I'm talking about downloading movies, not music, in a handful of minutes and not hours like so many users of so-called high-speed internet suffer through now.

The internet has so much to offer today, and plenty of it is designed to work best on true high-speed connections. More and more video websites are streaming High Definition content, and live sporting events, and these applications demand the highest bandwidth possible. There is no reason to put up with buffering and having to wait so long for downloading your content.
