subject: Becoming A Medical Transcriptionist [print this page] WRITTEN BY: Laura Mae Bullock WRITTEN BY: Laura Mae Bullock
I am interested in becoming a medical transcriptionist for many reasons, one being the fact that I can work from home and train from home. I am a single mother of four beautiful children, ranging in ages from five months to six years old. My children are the most important part of my life and I feel that it would better my family if I could work and train from home. I will be able to spend time with my children and care for them without the worry and hassle of a sitter. Their father abandoned them and I don't want them to feel that way about me because I am working all the time, but we all know children can't survive off air!
I have also taken online medical transcription courses in the past. I currently hold a CNA certificate. The medical field in general interest me but I cant hold a full time job until all my children are at least in school. I believe this would be a great opportunity for me until I can go to school and further my nursing career. As you already know the advantage of training at home and working from home would help greatly with the care and welfare of my children. It would also be less stressful on myself, its hard to apply for a job with two children on your hip and rushing interviews to make sure you are home in time to get your children off the school bus. I can make sure my children continue to have three full hot meals everyday and be bathed and in bed at the same time every night if I trained and worked from home. That is a real important aspect in mine and my children's life, consistency. SN:0TG9Y2ESY
I also believe this will keep me focused and interested in pursuing my career in the nursing field in the future. Well it seems selfish but the future MT is the only program I have found for the MT training that has scholarship's and financial aid to assist in the cost of school. As a single mother its hard enough paying bill and furthering your education so you can earn more to support your family better is hard to come by when you are on your own to pay for your schooling. I couldn't even think about going back to school right now without scholarship's or financial aid to assist me. Not only do I want to become a Medical Transcriptionist now to better my life, but I also within the next five to ten years I would like to be able to finish my nursing school. I want nothing more than to help people for the rest of my life, maybe someday give back to those who have helped me. I want my children to have everything that they need without the worry of paying bills or putting food on the table. I feel I could accomplish my long term goals, but I have to start somewhere. I am hoping to do the training and find an online job to better my life.
