subject: Being Married Is About Compromise (Fiancee Visa) [print this page]

It isn't always an easy adjustment to suddenly have someone who does things totally different than you share a house with you. This is where you have to make a consciece decision about what you let bother you. My

husband is a dipper and I get little spit cups left all over the house. It drives me crazy! But, I can either drive him crazy nagging him or realize it could be worse. I am sure I have little annoying habits too so it isn't worth getting bent out of shape for. There are people that seriously spend their time fighting over things like that. It just isn't worth it. He has more redeemable qualities than not, so I choose to throw his spit cups out and move on down the road. Things like putting paper on the roll, squeezing the toothpaste right etc just isn't a big enough problem to actually get in a fight over. Besides, have you ever noticed that nagging about it doesn't seem to change anything either? Just save your breath for things that really do matter. Then when you do get upset he's more likely to notice since it's not something that happens a lot.

Being Married Is About A Partnership Fiancee Visa

It is essential to have a partnership with your spouse, especially if you have kids. Kids are the worst about trying to wreck that. I don't mean that in a bad way, but it is true. If they can get one parent on their side and against the other they know there is a good chance they will get their way. Don't think for a minute they don't think like that. When we first got married we made an agreement from the start. When we disagree with a punishment or decision the other partner makes we will talk about it in private. This way the kids always see a united front. They don't know who made the final decision. In doing that you never undermine the decision of one another. I know we make mistakes in a lot of areas, but at least we do them together. A partnership also works together. We have never discussed who has what job. If we see something that needs to be done we do it. We both cook, we both clean, we both feed, we both take out the trash etc. There are some jobs we naturally do more than the other, but it has never been discussed. If I feed the horses in the morning he makes breaskfast and visa versa. There isn't really a reason to discuss it. It has to be done and if everybody does a part it gets done faster.

Save Time For Some Romance

Now I know that men and women tend to differ on their ideas of romance, but the main point is just to spend some time together. Remember what attracted you to that person in the first place. This does not have to always be an expensive outing. Some of our favorite times together are getting coffee and walking around Barnes and Nobles. This is especially important once you have kids. Speaking from a womens point of view, I know that we tend to throw our efforts into our child and forget our husbands. Take some time to spend with him, buy him some small thing at the store when you go, make him a favorite meal, remind him that you didn't forget about him. This for me is an area I struggle with and need to make a bigger effort.
