So maybe you arent an alcoholic, but you frequent the local bar stools a little too often? Overindulging can have several negative impacts on your health, such as weight gain, dehydration and dark circles under eyes. And if your drinking habits spiral out of control, you run the risk of serious damage to your liver. Cutting back is the best way to stay happy and healthy. Follow my simple tips to avoiding falling back into old habits. First write down the reasons why youd like to cut back. Perhaps you want to avoid negative health consequences, you want to improve your physical appearance or you want to improve your sleep. Write it all down and refer to the list often. Clean out your liquor cabinet. You dont have to completely get rid of everything, but make sure you limit yourself. You shouldnt fully stocked at all times, as this will just be a temptation everyday when you get home from work. Drink slower. If you decide to go out for a drink, take your time. Also alternate between other beverages like water, tea or coffee. This will fill you up much faster and prevent you from becoming dehydrated or overindulging. Drink later at night. If you normally have a drink around 6:30 when you get off from work, wait until 9:30 or so. Youll be less inclined to over drink because youll get sleepy. Slowly reduce your drinking habits. First you can tell yourself that youre no longer going to drink on Mondays. Then after about a week, resolve not to drink on Mondays or Tuesdays. Continue this until youve reduced your consumption habits to a comfortable amount. About the Author:
