Lately, I've noticed that my brother seems always to be worried about something most especially when it's around the time when we received our electric bills. So one afternoon while we're having a couple bottles of beer in our patio, I asked him if about it. He confessed that he is having problems with his electricity consumption since he's paying as much as 60% of his salary for it every month. So I asked him if he wanted to borrow some of the DIY wind turbine plans that I used a year before when I constructed my own wind turbine to generate electricity at home. This would enable him to build his own and lessen his electricity consumption.

I gave him tips on how to choose which plan he should use since he live a little far from my house. The first aspect that he should look at is how windy in his place is. This will help him determine if he would use long or short blade for his turbine. If his place is windier, then he should use short turbine blades.

He should also check if he has a lot of time in his hand since building a more durable wooden turbine blade is more time consuming compared to a PVC pipe one. By being able to determine it, would help him narrow which among the DIY wind turbine plans that I will lend will he use.

Finally, he should also decide if he wanted to construct a wind turbine in a horizontal or vertical axis. Both have its advantages, although more residential users prefer a horizontally placed wind turbine.

With this few tips that I gave him as well as the knowledge that I save a lot from generating my own electricity, my brother was more than willing to borrow those dusty DIY wind turbine plans that I used a year ago when I built the one we are currently using.
