subject: What Are The Benefits Of Natural Remedies? [print this page]

Every so often, you hear a radio report, or see a book about natural remedies. You might be wondering about what some of the benefits of these natural remedies are, and why you would want to learn about them.

Almost every day it seems we are running into minor medical conditions. Things that don't necessarily require a doctor visit. But, they still bothersome.

This is where a natural remedy can really shine. Minor issues that are inconvenient, but not to serious.

There are a number of benefits to using natural remedies, and here are a few.

No Waiting Lists

Getting in to see a doctor can take forever. Often, there is a several week waiting list, just to get to see your primary care physician. If there is a natural remedy for what ever is bothering you, you might as well use it while waiting to get into the doctor. It might even be cleared up before your appointment.

Cost Savings

Over the counter treatments can be expensive. For example treatments for head lice can cost hundreds of dollars by the time you are done. But, did you know that mayonnaise and vinegar are known to get rid of head lice?

Safety

With any type of over the counter remedy, you are never quite sure of what is going into your body. But with a home remedy, you know exactly what you are getting. How can the aloe Vera, milk and cucumbers be unhealthy if they are rubbed on your skin (unless you have an allergy)? Yet, they are effective for treating the pain due to sunburn.

Convenience

Natural remedies are often called home remedies for a reason. Usually, you have exactly what you need at home. There is no need to take a drive to the store to help your razor burn. Not when sour cream applied for 15 minutes a couple of times might take care of it.

Ease of Use

Have you ever read the warning labels on even the simplest over the counter treatment? You have worries about applying too much, or too little. It seems like everything has the potential for reactions with other items you might be using.

With home remedies there usually are no interactions. A quick internet search will tell you how putting a clove of garlic on a sore tooth can take away tooth pain. That's much easier than measuring out exactly 20mg of whatever the store treatment is.

Natural remedies are cheap, convenient and easy to use. They are great for minor inconveniences you don't want to bother seeing a doctor about, but are still annoying. Or for use while waiting to get into your doctors office.

Information about alternative remedies is easy to find online. Just be sure they are safe, and your doctor approves of them. There are some people out there touting natural products for serious conditions and for those, you should definitely talk to your doctor.

There is no need to suffer with a tooth ache until you can get into see a dentist, or agonize with a sunburn until it finally goes away. There are natural remedies that can help.
