Ford Motor Company announced that they will be debuting what they believe to be the first ever 'world car' at the Detroit Auto Show. All the buzz is about the Ford Focus 2012 - a car that is being designed to be universal across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Whereas in the past each continent would use different parts in order to construct the cars, Ford Motor Company is aiming to achieve unity between the different markets. Ford is hoping to construct the cars so that around 80% of the parts will be similar across all markets. Ford has decided to go this route in their manufacturing process in order to cut down on the costs associated with smaller cars. As Ford expands into markets that can't accommodate larger cars, such as China and other parts of Asia, they needed a way to create a car that would fit the needs of the market but also be profitable. Another improvement that Ford will be making on the 2012 Focus is more efficient gas mileage to help ease the wallets of cost cutting consumers. While Ford hasn't announced specifically what type of mileage the Focus 2012 will get, it will be greater than the current 35mpg that the current Focus has. Ford Focus 2012 owners will find that the car handles much better than previous versions as it will be manufactured with an electronic controlled suspension similar to the Ford Focus currently sold in Europe. As the economy becomes increasingly global, more and more changes like this should become common as companies try to cut down on the expenses associated with operating in a global market. The Ford Focus 2012 looks to be a promising car for consumers wanting to maintain a comfortable driving experience while also experiencing the benefits of better gas mileage.About the Author:
