subject: Intestinal Yeast Infections- How Serious Are They? [print this page]

Candida is an enzyme that grows on the inner lining of your intestines. The body uses this yeast to aid in the transfer of nutrients from the foods you eat to the bloodstream. While candida is naturally occurring and can be very helpful to the process, it tends to grow more rapidly on low fiber, high carb diets. It also relishes processed flours and sugars. Virtually every additive based food in the supermarket can lead to an overgrowth of this naturally occurring enzyme. And the overgrowth can lead to serious repercussions.

Diminishes quality of life. The diet plays such an active part in how happy and healthy you are. The ailments that can occur as a result of an overgrowth of yeast in the intestines is too long to list. From the minors to the majors, however, this problem can bring forth a lot of changes that affect the overall person. It affects metabolism, weight gain, and other areas that may lead one to have a negative self image. Ever felt like there was something wrong with you, but just weren't sure what it was and couldn't figure it out? Chances are this could be due to an overgrowth of candida.

Leads to malnutrition. By blocking out the other helpful enzymes, candida does not allow your body to do its job with the foods you eat. With all of the processed foods citizens of the civilized world put in their bodies each year, yeast levels can certainly go unnoticed. It is a problem that affects men and women, and should be addressed immediately by a change in diet or through alternative medicines that help regulate it.

Affects the mind. Even though it is independent of the head, what goes on inside your digestive system can certainly affect what transpires in your brain. People with the overabundance have been known to forget things easily, a condition which could eventually lead to dementia. The body needs a proper diet with natural digestion to operate. When yeast surplus prevents this from happening, it can negatively affect other areas.

Causes chronic fatigue. If you always feel worn out, then you probably won't feel like getting the right amount of exercise needed to function. This condition can greatly slow down your metabolic functions and lead to weight problems and depression, especially as you get older.

In short, suffering from this condition makes one a lesser person. How can you be expected to reach full functionality if the fuel furnished to the body is not getting the job done? Don't chalk it up to getting older. This is false. Do something about it, and you will be surprised at just how far youth can last.
