subject: How Fast Do These Bedbugs Spread? [print this page]

Bedbugs are tiny insects that feed off the blood from mammals or humans. A majority of these creatures reside on the beds of human beings and hence they are referred to as bedbugs'. These are small reddish-brown bugs which bite only while the host is asleep.

Bedbugs are known to cause allergic reactions as well as rash on the side of the bite. These creatures were almost extinct around the 1940s; however they started emerging in great numbers after the 1990s. Medical experts as well as scientists are still looking for reasons of their re-emergence. They are highly active at night and they tend to bite on the skin which is exposed. Therefore, the bedbugs' bites are likely to be seen on the hands, the neck as well as the face. These bites are often accompanied by swelling as well as redness.

Bedbugs spread by crawling from one place to another and can infest furnishings made out of textiles. They can infest several rooms at the same time and these creatures usually have a clear line of travel from one host to another. You may perhaps find their faeces on the bed sheets, the exoskeletons as well as their eggs on the crevices or small hideouts. They can emerge from a variety of sources and it is difficult to eliminate them since they are quite resistant to pesticides. Used bedding or furniture is one of the primary causes of bedbugs. Hence, before buying used pieces of furniture, ensure that you check them thoroughly for the presence of cracks or crevices.
