Throughout the 1990s, the Crown Victoria served as Ford's flagship sedan, but after the turn of the century, popularity began to dwindle with the non-commercial consumer. In 2005, Ford introduced the Ford Five-Hundred as their new flagship sedan, and sales of the Crown Victoria were at around 5,000 units by this point. By 2006, sales had dwindled to just 3,000 units, which led Ford to pull the Crown Victoria from Canada dealerships completely. Then in 2008, the Crown Victoria became a Fleet series vehicle only, and was no longer available to the public. It has continued to remain popular with Fleet customers such as Taxi companies.
