subject: Switching The Duvet Cover-six Stress-free Steps [print this page]

When it comes to changing your duvet cover it can take two people 30 minutes to do a one person, 10 minute task. people can get tangled in all the sheets. Well there will be no more of this. This is a step by step guide to changing your duvet cover quickly and easily.

Step 1 First of all, you need to take the old duvet cover off your bed, ready to be washed. Getting rid of these sheets will give you more space to change the duvet cover without the risk of getting tangled. The bigger your bed, the more room you need in which to manoeuvre.

Step 2 Make sure that you turn your new duvet cover inside out as your next step. you will understand why this method works after you have failed to make the bed when you just shove the quilt into the cover. You should also lay the blanket out on the bed as you would sleep under it, so the shorter ends are at the head and foot of the bed.

Step 3 Next you need to find the two corners in the duvet cover which go with the two end corners of the blanket. For most covers this will be the two corners at the opposite end of the opening. If the duvet cover manages to fall over your body so your head is at the end of it, move back out of the cover and bunch the material over your arms.

Step 4 now you need to match the duvet cover corners with the quilt. If you followed step two correctly you will now be stood at the end of the bed where your feet go. Depending on how long your arms are you might need to stretch to be able to reach both corners at once, but just make sure they are tightly held together.

Step 5 Now it's time for the best bit. Because I am only 5'5" it can be a struggle to get the duvet cover to surround the entire length of the blanket. With both corners firmly in hand, stand on the bed and give yourself a shake, which will make the duvet cover slide down the blanket. This may require that the blanket hangs off the edge of the bed.

Step 6 Now the duvet should be totally covering the blanket and you will be able to fasten it at the bottom. Once all of the buttons/poppers have been fastened, give the duvet a final shake to even out any bumps and you will have a perfectly made bed to sleep in.
