subject: Jobs In Bournemouth Has Great Opportunities Emerging [print this page]

Bournemouth is quickly emerging as a business destination in the UK. Known primarily as a tourist centre due to its many sandy beaches that dot the south Dorset coastline, Bournemouth also boasts of many resorts that promote a great holiday atmosphere. This town has also been preferred as a retirement town. Way back in 1811, when the local squire put up a summerhouse and when the town was unpopulated, its salubrious climate and tranquility enticed many elderly individuals to treat it as a seaside holiday resort, and that is how it quickly became a preferred holiday destination.

By the year 1870, the introduction of the railway system enabled many more people to visit this place and the tourist interest kept increasing. Post war recession, however, saw a drastic decline in tourist interest and the place was forced to look for diversified economic drivers to sustain itself.

The fact that it was always geared for an economy focused on providing services enabled it to make use of its infrastructure, and Bournemouth has experienced rapid growth since then. It has even outperformed the average growth of the nation.

However, things are now changing. Many students are now attending Bournemouth University and a large number of good English schools are coming up to meet the educational requirements of families. These famailies are shifting to this place due to the business and employment opportunities they are able to find. The town is also an important setting for business conferences, with the Bournemouth International Centre in the news for regularly hosting a number of large business and political events. Such conferences have been attracting more than five million people every year and have also been providing employment to the people in the town.

Many big companies have realised that there are many advantages to be had when they relocate to Bournemouth, thanks to the availability of a good pool of skilled workers, and the fact that they can provide a good quality of life to their employees. The fact that the commercial real estate rates are also much more affordable as compared to other parts in the UK is another reason why Bournemouth has fast emerged as the preferred destination for business.

The success of the Bournemouth International Centre has meant that more jobs in Bournemouth will become available to the local populace due to the spin off effects it has on the retail and hotel industries. This, along with the growing population of students, has made Bournemouth a very busy destination for tourists as well as business entrepreneurs.

Some big private finance employers have also set up shop at Bournemouth and offered jobs in Bournemouth. More than 19,000 individuals are believed to be employed in the finance sector which is a definite shift taking place in terms of people finding alternate avenues of employment.

Having said the above, the public sector remains the biggest employer and the NHS trust, along with the Bournemouth County Council, are the major players providing jobs to the people at this place.
