subject: The 9105 Pearl 3g From Blackberry-new For Summer 2010 [print this page]

Fresh for the summer of 2010, Blackberry have introduced their latest handset, the 9105 Pearl 3G, a more compact phone than what we have come to expect from the manufacturer, but still with a specification list that impresses.

A dedicated media button on top of the handset launches the phones media functions. Thanks to the excellent resolution 360 x 400 screen multimedia material certainly looks great. Both Mpeg4 and WMV3 video formats are supported on the phone. Audio files are well accounted for to, with a diverse range of formats supported including MP3, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA. The decision to include a 3.5mm stereo jack socket means such files can be listened to on the users own choice of headphones, and thanks to Bluetooth support this can also be done with compatible headsets.

Perhaps the biggest difference between this model and some of its Blackberry predecessors is that the trademark QWERTY keypad has been banished in favour of the more traditional alphanumeric systems. What the manufacturer hopes is that despite the keypad now having less keys, that the composing of messages is not hindered thanks to the use of predictive text. In addition to T9, the predictive system nay of us are used to, Blackberry have also incorporated their own SureType technology, a system that memorises the words you use most frequently in a bid to make typing quicker and easier. Obviously, the other major difference that this change has made is to substantially reduce the overall size of the unit, making it the most compact Blackberry currently available. Measuring 108 x 50 x 13.3mm and weighing in at 93 grammes, the unit is undoubtedly tidy and compact, and will appeal to people who want a high power phone but lacking the bulk that is normally associated with them.

A 3.2 million pixel camera facility is fitted on the Blackberry 9105 Pearl 3G. For those who want to capture the moment an autofocus feature ensures that you will do so in the highest clarity possible. Other features to benefit the user are a flash facility and a zoom, which gives a magnification of 2.5. With regards to storage of such photos as well as other media material, a microSD card slot allows for upto 32GB of storage, in addition to the 256MB of memory that comes pre installed on the phone.

The 9105 Pearl 3G is something a bit different from Blackberry, a handset that now looks like a more traditional phone whilst maintaining the user friendliness and features we have come to love from a Blackberry.
