subject: Ad Management: An Effective Tool For Sme Success [print this page]

Advertising is one of the most vital tools in creating a powerful impact for a particular brand in todays competitive world. Small or big, public or private sector, all swear by the importance of promoting ones brand and acknowledge the significance of clever advertisement (ad) campaigns and well-orchestrated ad plans.

Ad management essential to get optimum gains

Earlier, only big brands used to invest heavily on ads but now SMEs too have joined the bandwagon in reaping the benefits of various advertising channels to establish their market foothold through effective promotion. Greater number of SMEs and local business houses are roping in advertising firms to manage their promotional and marketing activities.

"In order to make their products popular in the market, small businesses are showing their readiness to step-up their expenditure on ads. Even local business houses are ready to shell out additional money to hire consultants who will enable them to choose the right promotional tools in order to enhance their visibility, said Aditya Agarwal, proprietor of Hot Cash Enterprises, a Kolkata-based small-sized garment manufacturing unit.

However, before paying hefty prices to advertising agencies, SMEs must analyse whether the promotional campaign designed for their product suits their image and go well with the customers or just manages to appear before public eye without creating any significant impact.

Taking the services of ad agencies is not enough to boost the public image and create goodwill in the market. Small businesses need to constantly monitor the promotional campaigns and use their ad campaign budget judiciously so that they can reach out to their potential customers without creating a hole in their pockets, said Devank Maheshwari, proprietor of Sonu Communications, a small-sized communication solutions provider in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

Proper management of advertising activities will help small businesses to get the desired public attention without bearing the financial brunt.
