subject: Getting The Look With Credit Card Design [print this page]

Image is important in my job; I'm a club promoter and no one's going to want to come to your night, much less put you in charge of their venue if you look like you're homeless. There's a lot of trust placed in you and a lot of that - sadly - comes from first impressions. Although the night I run is a metal night and consequently is filled with sweaty, hairy people with lots of tattoos and metal in their faces, I can't try and promote the night or find venues if I look like that, so I have to try and mix the 'alternative' look with looking a little bit successful - personally, I've found that custom credit card design has really helped me to get the right image without compromising too much.

I can pretty much wear what I want when I'm out talking to people promoting or scoping venues, but if you don't set that off with something that shows a little bit of flash, people just don't take you seriously. It's not particularly difficult and it doesn't need to be overly expensive to do that - just some designer sunglasses, a nice looking watch (eBay does pretty reasonable non-branded ones which look solid) and a smartphone can really set the look going, but everyone's got that. However, you look into some credit card design, open up the wallet and have some plastic with your own design on and suddenly, you've got something that's very different and as unique as you are.

There's something very cool about having your uniquely designed credit card. It says success, it says affluence and it says that you know what you want - basically, it says you're cool, and that's pretty much a guaranteed in in this game. People want to go to a cool club night, they want cool people running events out of their clubs and having a custom credit card design is the perfect way to project that image.

Of course, there's only so far that image can carry you in this game - you've got to look the part, you've got to talk the talk and, ultimately, you've got to be able to walk the walk. I like to think that I do those parts pretty well, but if I didn't look the part, I probably wouldn't get through the door in most places, let alone get to talk my night up and get other people through the door either. Whether it's the Oakleys, the posy watch, or the custom credit card design, I look the part and that gives me the confidence and the opportunity to be the part.
