subject: Has Julia Roberts Had Liposuction? [print this page]

Julia Roberts, famous actress and now mother of three young children, was spotted playing on the beach in early May, 2009. Although reporters noted her tattoo and polka-dot bikini they also noticed some other things.

Roberts' abdominal region looked as though she may have undergone liposuction at one point. The skin was puckered and the bellybutton a bit stretched out. These are both signs of surgery to that area of the body. Of course, motherhood also has the same effect to the abdomen so it is difficult to tell whether Roberts has in fact undergone any sort of procedure or has simply succumbed to the effects of motherhood.

There's no doubt that Julia, though entering her middle-age years, looks great for a mother of three. One doctor was quoted saying, "I think Julia Roberts looks great in her bikini! She does not appear to have had any surgery either. Julia must have a balanced diet, exercise regimen and good genetics to look so great after 3 children. Keep up the good work!"

Other doctors are a little slower to assume that this famous starlet has had zero work done. One states "Julia has significant skin tightening on her abdomen compared from previous pictures. There are no apparent incisions to suggest abdominoplasty. She possibly could have had [other types of a lipoplasty procedure done] which can produce such results. Whatever she did, it worked."

Whether one of America's favorite actresses has really undergone any sort of surgery or not, her abdomen has shown some of the effects these procedures can have. Liposuction does not immediately make the body more attractive. According to one doctor "It really doesn't tighten anything." Traditional types of lipectomies leave the bellybutton stretched out and almost a bit lopsided. This same doctor states that "She might be a good tummy tuck candidate with all that loose skin. Liposuction at this point wouldn't offer her much." If taking care of saggy skin is your wish, it might be better to look into a tummy tuck.

Having realistic expectations and knowing what kind of effects to look forward to after the surgery are crucial in the process of deciding whether to undergo this type of surgery yourself. Be sure to keep all this in mind before reaching a final decision. As always, consult your doctor to get acquainted with all of the risks and side-effects involved. You'll be glad you did!
