Visit Malaysia's natural wonder, Kinabalu Park. It is a First World Heritage Site situated just two hours and 30 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu. The Park is a vast wonderland that shows off the true natural beauty that belongs to Borneo. This is also a place to find cheap Kota Kinabalu hotels in the form of hostels, huts, and lodges in or near the park.

Climbers from around the world come to this area to experience the challenge of Mt. Kinabalu. The peak is the visual centrepiece of Borneo and represents its majesty. You will need to book a guide and a permit to climb Mt. Kinabalu. Permits are available at the Park. If you plan to go, you can take advantage of the Park Naturalist's programme that describes the climb and what you will need to take with you. You will also learn specifics about the climb and any special challenges you might encounter. A climb can be completed in 2 to 3 days.

For those wanting a gentler experience, Trails of Wonder winds in and around the park and you will find rare species of plant and natural life here. You can also choose to explore with the guidance of a Park Naturalist that will explain all of the plant, insect, and animal life you may see along the way. This park contains many species of plant and insect that had been previously undiscovered. Scientific explorations occur here as they study the lush and plentiful life that exists on this mountain.
