subject: Legitimate Online Jobs - 4 Tips On Avoiding Fake Jobs [print this page]

Chances are if you are seeking online work, you have went through countless websites looking for work. It can be very time consuming at times, believe me I have been freelancing for a number of years. It is very hard to call yourself a freelancer if you are always seeking work. Freelance work is commonly called contract work, which means you are contracted out to do a project, and then you get paid.

Honestly, people are not aware of the killer online opportunities that are out there. A common misconception that the internet is just a communication tool is commonly overlooked. Freelancers are thriving by taking advantages of ways to find legitimate work online.

Whether you are a web designer, writer, IT tech, or any other various telecommuting professions; there are simple task that can do to work smarter and get more business. You can use your skills to make money online, but make sure you use them wisely.

Scammers seem to target the work-at-home community, because lets face it, it is appealing to a lot of different people. I am sure you have ran across a site that promises you the world! Here are warning signs of fake work at home scams:

Warning Sign 1

If a website looks to good to be true, than chances are they probably are. If they have flashy dollar signs promising you instant riches, run away fast. Don't make an impulse buy!

Warning Sign 2

If you have to spend a huge amount of money in order to make money chances are it is probably a scam. Do not confuse this with a subscription fee where they can provide you with employers seeking telecommute jobs or freelance work. They are in fact providing you with a service.

Warning Sign 3

'Multi Level Marketing' is another common scam which targets millions of people. They simply promise them a large sum of money. They simply require you to pass on their information in order to make money. They will typically rip off a bunch of people and then vanish.

Warning Sign 4

I debated on adding this as a warning sign for a little while, but I have came to the conclusion that this is a silly way to work. A lot of freelance or telecommuting sites want you to place bids on different projects. However, you can go through a million different job listings, only to get no results and waste days or even weeks.

All and all, getting freelance work or telecommuting work is very profitable, but please use your head when seeking online jobs. Do not waste your time with phony sites, 'Multi Level Marketing Scams' or bidding on different projects. Be aware that the work-at-home community is growing each day, but don't think that you are going to make a million dollars in 1 hour doing nothing!
