subject: The Latest Micro Sd Card (tf Card) Makes A Difference [print this page]
Micro SD is a format for removable flash memory cards. Micro SD cards were originally called T-Flash and then TransFlash before being rechristened as Micro SD when adopted by the SD Card Association (SDA).
The storage capacity for Micro SD cards can range from 128 MB to 4 GB; however, they most often contain storage sizes from 1 GB to 2 GB. Storage capacity should increase in future products.
Like its name, the Micro SD card / TransFlash is essentially an SD card, but in a smaller package (the size of a fingernail). It is one of the smallest removable flash memory card formats designed specifically for small devices. Some of these devices include: mobile phones, handheld GPS devices, portable audio players, flashcards for Nintendo DS emulation, and expandable USB flash memory drives. MicroSD cards can be used in SD-compatible devices via an SD adapter.
This increase in capacity does not mean a corresponding increase in physical size, however. The wonders of modern technology that keep computer hard disk drives smaller and smaller while able to hold more and more data apply to a Micro SD card as well.
