subject: Why the Middle East is enjoying growth as Europe hurts [print this page]

Go to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, The U.A.EGo to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, The U.A.E. and even smaller non-oil countries like Jordan and you will find one thing in common as in most of the Middle East Region and that is the explosive growth of online users. A staggering 1165% in the last 10 years. You think that's amazing? That's nothing considering there is still over 85% of the region that don't use the internet. Yet those who are privileged enough to afford the internet are all over the social networks, e-commerce, and so on. On a recent visit to Amman, Jordan, i was introduced to a gentleman by the name of Mr. Emad Rzouk who owns a company that has developed a website by the name of http://e3leno.net. The reason i mention this in particular is much like Maktoob, also a Jordanian company, e3leno.net is over 1000 websites in one. In other words, it contained everything from an optimized search engine for ALL of the Middle East, ala Google to the World, to News, Ads, Games, and so much more. What's the difference here? It is all in Arabic making it unprecedented in the region. After doing extensive research, there was no other website that came close. Businesses like these are beginning to thrive thanks to Yahoo acquring Maktoob not too long ago and now, many online savvy businessmen and investors alike are flocking to duplicate in hopes of achieving success which is a great thing. But, going back to Mr. Rzouk, he will succeed because there is nothing like it on the web all in Arabic. The website catered to the Arabic market because unlike the rest of the world, English is NOT the 2nd language. I wish more success to him and the others that follow because i, myself am an Arab-American and it's finally good to see the recognition they worked so hard to receive.
