subject: If I Get The Shipping Address Wrong, Will I Be Billed For My Mistake? [print this page]

When packages are sent to the wrong address, it causes a very large delay for a courier company. That is because unless the mistake is caught before the package ever leaves the location of the party that sends it, it is inevitably going to have to be corrected somehow. This usually means that the package is going to have to be returned to sender. Even worse, if a San Diego courier service makes a delivery to the wrong address, they are going to have to spend time either trying to recover the package, or if that proves impossible, processing an insurance claim for their client.

Usually, if you are the one that makes a mistake on the labeling of your package, you are going to be billed for the error. Most of the time when a package goes astray due to a labeling mistake, it is almost always the fault of the people that shipped the package. If the courier company was shipping from storage, almost all of their labeling is automated, greatly reducing the chances of them making an error of this kind.

If you want to save yourself some money on your courier bills, one of the best things that you can do is to be extra careful when the time comes to address your shipment. Not only will you be saving yourself money directly, but you'll also be helping your business to stay profitable by keeping your customers happy. They aren't going to be very likely to come back if after they order a package from you they have to wait an extra three days due to the package being mislabeled the first time it was sent out.

There are tools that some courier companies have that can help you make sure that you don't make this mistake more than once in a blue moon. Online address books are very helpful for this. You can store all of your client's shipping information in one easy to access place online, and then use it to print error free shipping labels every time that client places an order with you.

Take advantage of an online address book if your courier offers you one, but more than anything, just take your time. Taking an extra minute to double check every shipping address before you send the package out doesn't amount to that much time, but it can make a large difference in the overall shape of your business.
