subject: What's in a word--turbocharged [print this page]

Are you turbocharged for Jesus? We can't be charged let alone be supercharged if the gear shift is in neutral. Sometimes it's tough getting out of bed on Sunday morning to go to church. We drag the old Bible off the shelf and trudge out to the car. As we chug along like a barge going upstream against a strong current we think about places we would rather be going. Maybe we think of it as a chore that has to be done every week. What could they teach me that I don't already know? As you reach the church you are wondering if you will be able to stay awake for an hour. You settle into a pew in the last row and start to read the bulletin and wonder how bored you will be with this week's sermon. What's this? No sermon today, instead there will be some kind of drama. Great, how do I sneak out without being noticed. You try to get up but find that you can't budge You feel a light touch but it's enough to keep you in your seat. Okay God, I get it, I need to hear the message delivered in this drama. The actors were all from the teen group and they talked about lukewarm Christians. As the drama played out there was no doubt they were talking about you. The more you watched and listened the more energized you became. On the way home you pray and give thanks for today's lesson. You vow to hit the road running, get back to reading the Bible, and be more determined to get turbocharged for Jesus.
