subject: How To Look Taller By Wearing The Right Clothes [print this page]

One thing that people learning how to grow taller don't often realize is that there is a very real possibility that they are going to have to buy new clothes once they reach their height pinnacle - the point at which they are absolutely as tall as they are going to become. This height pinnacle can range anywhere from two inches to four inches taller than their current height, depending on a range of factors.

When you go to buy new clothes keep some factors in mind about the way that they fit. Some people try to buy clothes that are too large, bulky, or ill-fitting for their bodies. Instead of aesthetically optimizing their height, clothes that don't fit well most often accomplish exactly the opposite effect - they make the wearer look even shorter and more squat then they really are. No matter what your body type or height is, always be sure that your clothes fit well. Tailoring your clothes is a good idea to ensure a proper fit each time and this can be done even to clothes that you buy off-the-rack for a surprisingly low fee.

When buying shirts you want to make sure that they are neither too loose or too tight. You want to be sure that no extra fabric is left hanging out once the shirt is tucked in, as this can give the unconscious image that you are wearing your father's clothes, so to speak. You'll want to be sure that the bottom of your shirts are long enough to tuck in, but short enough so that they don't come down to your knees when they are untucked. Another potential problem area is shirt pockets, as if they are located too far down on the shirt, then this can make you appear shorter as well.

Try to stay away from "busy" patterns such as plaid and paisley. These patterns break up your form whereas simple, mono-chromatic looks accentuate your body's length from top to bottom. For this reason you will also want to make sure there is never a very high contrast between your shirt and your pants.

For your pants, you will want to take special care that they fit correctly down to your shoes. If you have your pants bunching around this area, it can give the unconscious look of "shortness" just as extra fabric in your shirt will. Have pants hemmed up to the proper length. You'll also want to make sure you stay away from any bagginess as well, as this extra fabric hanging down further contributes to the look of being shorter than what you really are.

Belts and ties should follow the same rules as pants and shirts: try to keep contrasts at a minimum. This is not to say that your tie has to be the same color as your shirt, but try to avoid overly-exuberant colors that draw the eye away from your overall form and directly to your chest. Your tie should complement your outfit, not scream loudly from the center of it.

Learning how to look taller may take some practice and thought but it is completely worth it, especially when combined with your journey to actually increase your height using natural, safe, and effective methods.
