Looking at the Future: Recently, Kazi Salahuddin, one of our all time greats has taken over as the No. 1 in our football hierarchy. Although, like everybody else, he is not above controversy, many like me feel that he is the man best suited to restore the image of the game within the country. His knowledge of the game is unquestionable, and he has the right kind of attitude. Of course, not everything has gone according to plans. Especially, the departure of a foreign coach in rather acrimonious circumstances has raised some eyebrows, both home and abroad. On the brighter side, it looks like that finally the big sponsors of the country are turning their heads towards soccer. One can only hope that this money is used properly to spread the game all over the country, and to build proper structure of our football. Things wouldn't change in a day or two; nor can one man alone can change everything. What we expect that under the leadership of Salahuddin, and with the financial backing of the big sponsors, our football will get back in the right course. After some promising moments in the 80's very little has been achieved in the football field. The last two decades have been wasted badly. While we have to content ourselves with supporting Brazil or Argentina, one hopes that our children (or perhaps our grandchildren) can clap for our boys playing in the WC. This may sound like a dream; but then, everything starts with a dream.
