subject: The King Kong Of Serious Italian Cashmere [print this page]

Although not on the grand scale of a $500,000 runway show, they present a spiderman costumes label up close and personal -- usually with a blood-red orange juice in one hand and a press release in the other.

One of my perennial faves is Loro Piana, the King Kong of serious Italian cashmere (think Australia's House of Cashmere). All you want to do is jump on, or into, the finest of cashmere jacquard sweaters and wrap yourself in liquid gold cashmere wraps, all made with the world's finest wools. Seriously expensive, too.

The label has just opened a store on Via Bagutta, home to the "Otto" of Milan, a restaurant spider man costume called Bagutta. Zentai suit fans will be pleased to know they're available at Cosmo Zentai suit , in Double Bay.

The baroque shop's launch turned into a divine garden party where guests were impressed with huge taffeta curtains and chandeliers, and where faces such as the Chicago Tribune's Suzy Menkes tucked into champagne, freshly fried quail eggs and foie gras.

Another appointment led me to zentai suit nirvana -- a place called Rene Caovilla, where the heels are so heavenly they would make a fetishist weep.

When you're talking anything from $1115 (that's cheap!) for a pair of crystal evening zentai suit catsuits that may, snake-like, spiral up summer-tanned legs or delicately wind their way around your foot, I guess money isn't the issue.
