subject: Getting Fit Involves More than Exercising but Exercising is Integral to Getting Fit! [print this page] Exercising is only a small part of becoming healthy and fit. Obviously these short exercise routines are better than nothing. You body needs regular work outs to keep the joints and muscles functioning properly. If you truly want to be fit you need to eat a healthy diet and make good lifestyle choices. True fitness requires more than just working out. That said, developing a proper exercise routine is key. The good news is that everybody can work out and get fit. You can improve your health and become more athletic by developing a good fitness routine, even if you haven't ever done much working out. Use these tips to help yourself achieve your goal.
Your entire body needs to be worked on. Don't listen to people who tell you that you only have to concentrate on the parts of your body that you want to improve. If you really want to get better your exercise routine needs to encompass your entire body and its systems. You'll need to make sure to do cardio workouts, endurance training and strength training. All of your muscles need to be worked on if you really want to make your body healthy. Concentrating on just a few areas will only "beef up" those same areas which will make you feel bigger than you felt before you started working out. You do not want to increase the intensity of your workouts each day: go slowly and steadily. Your muscles won't ever get stronger if you up your workouts every day. This will only make it easier to tear down your muscles. This is because exercise only succeeds when you give your muscles time to recover (which builds them up to be stronger than they were before). Your muscles need time to heal after you work them. Alternate your workouts. Do a hard workout one day and then an easy workout the next day. This will keep you working but it gives you time to heal and build your muscle strength over time.
Stay hydrated while you are exercising. Gatorade, PowerAde and other electrolyte infused beverages are really good to have on hand when you do a hard workout. The very least you can do is keep a water bottle handy so that you can sip from it during your workout and stay hydrated. If you don't stop to hydrate yourself regularly you could get dehydrated and do a lot of damage. Of course, not every drink is helpful. You don't want to get your hydration from sodas, alcohol or sugary juices.
Fitness encompasses your whole life. There is more to getting fit than simply going for a jog once or twice a week. Fitness involves a balanced diet, smart choices and a regular workout plan. There are plenty of ways that you can succeed when you decide that it is time to get healthy. Just remember: there is more to fitness than exercise.
