subject: How To Make A Information Holding Page, For Free [print this page] If you are going to be collecting a lot of information from the Internet; it's a good idea to make a place where you can easily put the information and use it later. After you have a Info Page setup on your computer, all you'll have to do is copy and paste or jot down your ideas, and click the Save button. No need to print it, or save everything in different files, it's all in one place. Where you can easily find it, edit it, copy, add to, or remove it. And it's in HTML format, the language of the Internet. So you can easily use it on Web pages, e-books, etc., ( Caution don't plagiarize anyone). And you can open your Info Page in your Web browser and the clickable links will work.
You will need a WYSIWYG ( What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor. If you don't have one, you can get a free one (not a trial), from Nvu .
After you have a HTML editor installed on your computer double-click on its icon to launch it. When the untitled page opens, click the Save button at the top of the page. A Page Title box will open, type the name of the page, (Info Page 1), then click OK. A Save Page As box will open ( Remember where the Save in location is, that's where your folder will be). Now click on the icon for Create New Folder, then change the name of the new folder by typing, ( Info Pages ), and click the Open button, then click the Save button.
You have just saved Info Page 1, in the folder Info Pages, in the Save in location (probably My Documents). Now type a row of AAAAA's, on the page then hit the Enter key on your computer, then hit the up arrow key to move the cursor in front of the row of A's you just typed. Then hit the Enter key again, it will move the row of A's down, now hit the up arrow key, and the cursor will be above the row you just typed. Then type a row of B's, then hit the Enter key, the cursor will be between the two rows of letters. That's where you put the info, then click Save. If you use all the letters on one page you can make another page, or as many pages as you want, named whatever you want, just keep them all in the same folder so you can find them.
That's it, all you have to remember is to work from the bottom up, so you are always on the top of the page, and make a row of different letters or numbers separating the different Info you save, so you can easily find it, or it's html source code. Remember, you are copying what is visible and the hidden source codes that make it, and you can see the codes at any time by clicking the Source button at the bottom of the page. Remember, if you are copying visible source code do everything the same, but before you paste click the Source button and find the row of letters you just typed, at the end you will see the brake code br surrounded by angle brackets ( probably in color), put your cursor after it then hit the Enter key then hit the Space barre, now that's where you paste, or type the visible source code, ( or paste it anywhere else you want it to be), then click the Save button. Remember, source code must be on the Source page, not the visible Normal page, or it will not work!
When you want to save something to your Info Page just start the HTML editor then click the Open button and find your Folder, double-click it, then click your Page then click Open. If you know you are going to use it a lot, leave it on and click the Minimize, or the Restore Down box at the top right of the page, and size it to one side of the screen, and do the same thing with your Web browser and put it on the other side then click to Maximize. Either way it will be only one or two clicks away when you need it.
