Ask our experts your Babies related questions here...

It's rough to watch your baby writhe in pain. Most parents don't know how to get rid of gas in babies and when the time comes, they feel helpless. It's actually easier to prevent gas than it is to get it out after the fact, but if your little one is in pain, you need to know how to go about getting rid of baby gas right now.

Massage: This is one of the most soothing methods of helping your baby get that gas out. Use a little baby oil or lotion on your hand and start on the right side of the baby's tummy, just over the hips. Gently move your hand up, over and down, in a circular motion. This will help move everything through the intestines. It's actually a great massage technique for constipation in babies, as well.

Leg pumps: Gently hold your baby's legs at the ankles and move the left one up so it bends and the upper leg touches the baby's body. Stretch the other leg out. Now, using a circular motion, move the stretched leg up while stretching the other one out. It should look like your little one is pedaling an invisible bike.

Inclination: Lay your little one on her back with her bottom higher than her head. Then rub the stomach gently in circles, as described in the massage section. You can also use the leg pumps in this position. Since gas is fairly light, it will head up . . . making it easier to get everything out and calm your baby.

Anise water: If you have anise seeds on hand, boil a tablespoon of them in a cup of water. Cool the water and give your baby a few drops with an eyedropper. This will help to settle her little stomach and calm the gas pains.
