subject: Reasons Why You Should Follow Up Your Leads [print this page]

Leads are your bread and butter when it comes to making money online. There is no more effective way to make sales than to have a nice, big database of opt-in, qualified leads. Although, you can't stop there because if you have the leads and you don't follow up, it's just as useless as having no leads. You should not have wasted your time in the first place. You should follow up on your leads for a multitude of different reasons, and no doubt you can probably think of even more than the ones mentioned here.

Perhaps even more important than making initial money with your leads is the opportunity to create an authority for yourself, so your leads see you as an expert in your field and someone they want to look to for information and advice. This is important, because this is what keeps your leads opening their emails from you. Being able to set yourself up as the point person for your particular topic will enable you to make money and create a buzz when it's time to launch a new product or service you might be interested in promoting.

In addition, you should follow up with your leads to ensure the highest possible income possibilities. But this has to be done correctly or chances are you will not make any money at all. You need to offer something of value every time you contact your leads, whether that is in the form of information or free products. Only after you've given the value can you ask for the money. If you aren't sending valuable emails to your leads on a consistent basis, you are throwing your own money away and you might as well just stop what you are doing right now.

Without following up with your leads at least once a week, you have no chance of making a decent income in affiliate marketing or selling your own products, which is the point in collecting qualified, opt-in leads in the first place. Not following up means they forget about you and what you have to offer and more than likely, they will end up just deleting themselves from your mailing list altogether.

You spend valuable time and money to increase your chances of making an income; don't waste those resources by forgetting what's most important, which is following up with your leads from day one. To avoid pit falls, consider setting up multiple weeks' worth of email content so you can set it and forget it, making sure you are efficient in following up with your leads while giving yourself time to develop proper communication for them.
