subject: You Can Learn A Foreign Language By Learning While You Sleep [print this page]

As we get older, it becomes more difficult for one to learn a new skill, language or retain anything they had just experienced. Now it is believed you have the capability of learning while you sleep. So why the difficulty retaining information when we are awake? Scientists are unsure as to the reason for this, but the only explanation currently being offered is this:

Currently on the market shelves there are new ways to learn being offered through various educational institutes and businesses. It is said to be believed that learning while you are asleep is a reality, and more importantly is effective.

Our brains tend to do the same thing over and over again, and when we learn something new the chances are we will forget something else instead. Although it is possibly to successfully learn new things without going into brain overload.

Right now scientists have broken into two different teams, attempting to differentiate between REM sleep and NON REM sleep, to see which offers the best windows for audio education and retention of that information. Both groups have been coming up with positive results in their testing, but also have a long road of research ahead of them.

Several educational groups have gotten wind of this new and upcoming method of education and have found ways to market this, and make a profit. There are a number of sleep learning courses available on the market for you to choose from.

Believing this is when a person will retain most of the information given to them through audio listening, during ones sleep phase. The other 20% believe this occurs during REM sleep phases. Try it for yourself to see what works best for you.

As the research continues, there are several companies and educational facilities out there that market their products based on this belief. Offering audio cassettes and headsets for one to where during sleep in hopes of helping you in learning while you are asleep, whether it be their previous days college math seminar, or more often times a second language has been known to be successful using this method as well.
