There are many gorgeous areas in the middle of the incredible urban center that is Hong Kong. It's rather difficult to get tired of the buildings, because they are so architecturally appealing, and the sense of design is rather elegant and charming, but everyone can get a little restless in a city and want to see some green. The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens are a great beginning, offering an escape from the city buzz, and into a natural paradise that also becomes a kind of horticultural history of China.
In the middle of the city is Hong Kong Park which offers plenty of wonderful areas to relax, and where the whole family can roam. After a busy day, it can be hard to beat a relaxing time on the grass, where birds in the trees, and fish in the water serve as reminders to slow down, it's a vacation. One can also see the old Victoria Barracks as well as the home of the former Commander of the British armed forces. This home also holds a very special place, the Flagstaff Tea Museum. Object that are unique to China, like the Yixing teapot, are on display, along with a vast number of other objects and information on the history of tea in the region. For those who don't know too much about tea, or don't care for it, this will very likely change minds, and certainly open up new perspectives.
Victoria Park is an excellent place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It's located on a hill, and a tram takes guests up the side of the mountain. Here, there is a running and hiking track, along with a mini zoo that can have a very special appeal to the young ones in any traveling party. Bringing along a lunch is a fine idea, and the kids can run and play while the adults take it easy. There are also festivals and other events to enjoy throughout the year. Taking time to enjoy the parks here can be enormously rewarding. The feeling of a barefoot walk in the grass is universally wonderful, and it's a great way to unwind and rejuvenate. Parks can offer a great alternative to urban culture, and even serve as a bit of an escape from the business. They are here to serve both the locals and the visitors staying in Hong Kong hotels, looking to maintain a sense of balance between civilization and nature.
