Highlights
With 86.5% of fuel in Estonia sold through five service station brands, Estonia has a concentrated fuel retail market. However, a number of independent and smaller operators still remain in the market. Consequently, the five largest operators by volume only account for 41% of all service stations in the country.
The number of service stations is set to grow slowly again throughout 2009. By the beginning of 2010, Datamonitor predicts there will be 550 service stations in Estonia, with Olerex and Statoil indicating they are looking to add to their networks. Statoil is the service station market leader in Estonia with a fuel volume market share of 30%.
A third of service stations in Estonia are unmanned and each of the five major fuel retailers have unmanned sites. Neste has an entirely unmanned network, although 10 of its sites do feature shops operated by other retailers. Around 30% of independent or smaller networks have unmanned sites.
