subject: Importance Of Self Esteem - Why You Will Never Achieve This [print this page]

You need self esteem, but it doesn't always come naturally or easily. You can't touch it and yet it affects the way you feel, and you can't see it and yet it's always there when you look at yourself in the mirror. Self esteem isn't bragging about how great you are, it's more like quietly knowing you're worth a lot. The importance of self esteem means making good choices, if you believe you're important you'll be less likely to "go with the crowd" and make unhealthy decisions. The level of your self esteem determines how you operate in life, how you interact with others and what goals you strive for.

1. People that have high self esteem tend to be more ambitious in what they want to experience in life. They are not afraid of a challenge and look forward to achieving many different goals.

2. Those that have high self esteem have a drive to express themselves and to communicate openly as well as honestly about what their needs and desires are.

3. The importance of self esteem means being able to choose healthy relationships and recognizing the value of those relationships. Individuals with high self esteem treat others around them with respect and have a non-judgemental attitude, and they expect the same in return.

4. Having good self esteem can also affect the way you think, causing your outlook to be either positive or negative.

5. Self esteem can also affect your confidence, in order to be able to rise to any challenge you must be able to believe in yourself.

Self esteem is crucial and is considered a cornerstone when it comes to having a positive attitude toward life. The importance of self esteem can affect how you think, act and relate to others as well as your potential to be successful. Low self esteem will mean low self confidence which will lead to negative thoughts, causing you to give up easily instead of facing challenges head on. According to leading psychologists, the importance of self esteem and having a positive self image is vital in development of a healthy personality.
