A career in science is mostly associated with lab settings, scientists in white coats, and extensive security. Nevertheless, it can be stated that there are occupations that break the aforementioned stereotype, and at the same time can be considered scientific. One of such occupations is related to the field of computer sciences, which can be considered as a discipline that emerged in the last twenty years. This article will provide an overview of such scientific career as a computer system analyst. The occurrence of such occupation as a computer system analyst can be contributed to developments in new technologies that occurred in the last two decades. Such technologies were integrated into most life aspects, and thus, creating positions in which such technologies will be developed, maintained, and updated. Computer system analysts create and/or work with specific computer systems in order to solve specific problems. Similar to many other scientific positions, computer system analysts need to identify existent problems in the processes of an organization, after which a method based on information technology will be developed in order to solve such problem. The common tasks of computer analysts are performed in either office settings or computer laboratories, with the possibility to perform the work either locally or remotely. Being tied to technological advancement, it can be stated that such occupation as computer system analyst is largely demanded, with a predicted growth of employment. Nevertheless, it should be stated that with rapid changes in technologies, there is a need for workers in the field of computer sciences to keep up with such technology changes and constantly update their qualifications. Being based on computer sciences, it can be stated that such occupation as computer system analyst is one of the direction in scientific careers.
