subject: The Potential Of Affiliate Programs [print this page]

Many affiliate merchants have failed at affiliate programs, and many affiliates have complained about the failures. There could be many reasons they were unsuccessful, there is no way to know for sure. Maybe affiliate expectations are too high? Perhaps they didn't put in enough effort? In the end it is clear these programs don't work for everyone.

In regards to merchants is seems the leading cause for this is lack of creditability. If people don't trust what you are saying about something they aren't going to buy from you. Very few people who visit your site will actually click on the affiliate link and even fewer are going to buy anything. To make sales you need as much traffic as possible and you need to have a reliable reputation.

You need to boost your reputation, stay ahead of the competition and constantly promote if you are going to make affiliate marketing your main source of revenue.

A better way to go about your business is to view your affiliates not as a main source of income, but a way of adding more income to your already existing business. If you really want to boost your sales, then be convincing. Don't just tell someone about a product, give your customer the help needed to make a buying decision. You'll find the more trusted of a source you are then the easier this will be. Be the best source of information that you can. If you can learn how to properly help your customers make these decisions then it is possible to make a full time living off of affiliate programs. A lot of people do, it just takes a lot of extra, hard work.

Use newsletters to their full advantage, add personal endorsements and see how much it boost sales! The extra work we were talking about 10-20 hours of research a week is all it takes to make more than you would working a part-time work week. Stick with it, its worth it in the end!

Who knows, with enough effort you could be the one with a network of affiliates promoting you! Follow the correct steps and you wont have to be tied to a full time job, you can have the freedom to live and play as you wish.
