subject: Ways In Which You Can Learn How To Become Better At Math [print this page] When it comes to learning how to become better at math, we all want to know. Well there are many people out there that love this subject. Unfortunately for many years, I was not one of them. Until it came to algebra and above, but that is another story all together.
Math can seem like a subject that makes you want to cringe. Imagine an adult going back to college and having to pick up a math book again. Like in all those years when we were told we would use math in our life. Well it's true we will, but you aren't going to be figuring out stuff on paper and pencil your whole life.
Stop remembering those old math teachers, the ones who put fears into your heart. Math isn't really the most amazing subject, so no matter how good of a teacher you had; it was probably still a boring subject.
However, you can actually find some great books that are around the college level of pre-calculus mathematics. These books have been written to make math fun and interesting. The subject isn't set up just to earn you a credit or two for a class, so you can really learn from it.
Start out with pre-calculus and begin to teach yourself. Don't go to the college bookstore and find a text book though. Most of these books are going to be boring and set up for a person who is only taking a course for a credit.
Head to the library and look up what they have in the pre-calculus section. Normally they will not have textbooks that are boring. If you can't find anything here, go online and ask in a math forum for suggestions on a good pre-calculus text.
Remember to change how you think about math. It's not a bunch of math problems that you are doing. But instead they are math exercises that you are working on to make your mind more fit. Sounds kind of corny, but it can work!
The biggest thing will be that belief you have in your mind and that you are good at math.
