subject: 4 Reasons Why Universal Refill Kits Just Do Not Cut It [print this page] Author: John C Arkin Author: John C Arkin
With prices consistently on a rise, more and more business owners are trying to find ways to cut down on expenses. One of the ways they do this is by looking for alternative replacements to their branded office supplies. In the case of printer inkjet cartridges, instead of buying new cartridges, many have chosen to use universal ink refill kits.
Universal refill kits have long been considered as a comparatively cheaper alternative than buying new ink cartridges. Even when compared to compatible inkjet printer ink cartridges, universal refill kits still cost a lot less. However, this does not mean to say that the results would just be as great as their prices. In fact, here are four reasons why you should think twice about buying universal refill kits instead of compatible inkjet cartridges or branded ones.
Full Cartridges Not Recognized
One of the biggest drawbacks of using universal refill kits for your inkjet printers is that the refilled cartridge would not be recognized by the printer. Many printers such as those manufactured by Epson have included a sensor in their ink cartridges. This sensor would allow the user to know how much ink is left in the cartridge. Once an ink cartridge is used up, the printer will stop running until this is replaced. The thing is that once the cartridge is recognized as being an empty cartridge, refilling it would not reset the sensor. As such, when you load the refilled ink cartridge into your printer, the printer would still recognized it as an empty cartridge and would still refuse to work.
Poor Printing Quality
Another reason why universal ink refill kits are not a good alternative to buying branded and compatible inkjet printer cartridges is the printing quality. This is because the inks that are used in universal ink refill kits may not be exactly the same in terms of shade and tint of those cartridges distributed by your printer manufacturer. In many cases, the ink used in these refill kits would often result in text documents and images looking pale or worse, print out a shade that is not the same as that you see on your screen.
Shorter Life Span for Printers
When you use a universal ink refill kit for your inkjet printer cartridge, you would need to make an opening on the cartridge for the ink to be placed into it. This opening would need to be sealed before the cartridge is being used. Unfortunately, the movement of the printer head containing the refilled inkjet printer cartridges and the heat emanating may cause the seal to be destroyed. As a result, the refill ink would slowly start dripping into your printer. This would not only cause your printer to become a lot dirtier
Smudges and Streaks
As the ink from the refilled cartridge seeps down the printer head, it may land onto the paper you are printing on, leaving large smudges and making your printout look messy. In some cases, the dried ink that seeped out would cause your printout to be more prone to streaks. Not only would this mean more paper wasted to keep on printing out the document until you get a decent quality. It would also mean that you would spend a much longer time printing the projects and reports you would need to submit.About the Author:
