subject: Double Your Blog's Audience With Twitter [print this page]

Utilizing social marketing with your blog is quickly becoming one of the fastest ways to generate quick targeted traffic. The basic concept is that each time your blog receives a post it automatically creates a tweet to your Twitter account, thereby sending your post to everyone of your followers. If you have a large following you can easily quadruple your posts. If you are an Internet Marketer I'm sure you are already visualizing the possibilities.

As I'm sure you already are aware, Twitter is a social bookmarking site that can send short messages of 140 characters or less to hundreds, thousands or millions of people within seconds. The best way to define it is that it's a "micro blogging" tool. When Twitter first arrived a few years ago it quickly became popular as a way to communicate with your friends or family. Over the past two years it has emerged as a commercial tool used by home, small and large companies. Even the President has a Twitter account.

Home Business owners can easily benefit through this simple process, here's how. Twitter is a great broadcast tool. You can use it to send multiple types of messages to your follower base. This doesn't mean that you can spam your follower base, this will certainly alienate them and they will click to "un-follow" you. However if you utilize your blog with your Twitter account you can be a source of information for your followers.

You can accomplish this easily. The first thing you need to do is the most obvious, create a Twitter account if you already don't have one. Make sure that it is closely tied in with your blog niche. You may be lucky and be able to get a twitter account with the same name as your blog. Next, you need to install the plugin to your WordPress blog. The plugin is called Twitter Tools by Alex King. This is the best plugin that I've found for this type of application. Install it, check the settings and then activate it. What it will do is create a tweet for each post to your blog.

In effect each time a post is made everyone on your Twitter follower list is seeing the post with a url back to your blog. This is the true definition of viral marketing and it's done for free, which puts it into the "organic traffic" category.

If you are interested in pushing this a little bit further you can also put your Twitter account on auto pilot as well by actively looking for people that are tweeting about your niche and you can start to follow them. In most cases they will begin to follow you as well helping to create additional followers for your Twitter account.
