subject: What Is The Difference Between Professional And Regular Irons? [print this page]

Something that I was looking at the other day was an iron that was described as "professional" and I really wasn't sure that that meant. I always thought that an iron was just an iron. I looked at the image of this professional item and it looked just like any other on the market, so I just assumed that maybe it was just a special model name. But I soon learned that there are actual differences between this type of iron and a regular iron. I thought I would share some of these facts with you.

The big one I think you get out of this is that you're going to have an iron that will hold much more water and heat up faster. This is something that is quite nice because there is no waiting around with heating or with constantly refilling the iron if you have a big load of clothes to go through. It might seem like a little feature, but it is nice when you're actually using it. It saves a lot of time not having to refill it twice for a single job and fast heating is always nice to see.

The fast heating occurs because it has a much more powerful boiler, which also is a benefit in itself. The more powerful a boiler you have, the more consistent and thick the steam will be produced from the iron. If you want to effectively get out wrinkles you need consistent steam to permeate deep into the fabric and this really makes the ironing process that much easier.
