Is our children's homicide rate higher than any other industrialized nation in the world?

At first glance, we might think it is due to all of guns. But the Swiss, have guns practically issued to every person in their country and they have the one of the lowest homicide rates in the world.

Maybe it could be the chemicals? Have you noticed the number of children that are on Ritalin here in the U.S. In our school system it is estimated that 6 percent or our schoolchildren have ADD ( Attention Deficit Disorder.) They also proclaim that another 20 percent of the kids have other learning behavior disorders.

Is it any wonder when we are putting astronomical amounts of chemicals in our body every single week? Unless you are eating organic food you are consuming 82,000 chemicals per week. Antibiotics, steroids, pesticides, herbicides, emulsifiers, surfactants, and food coloring are just a few examples. But, you are probably still doubting that these chemicals could possibly do anything to you right?

An interesting study that was in the Archives of Disease in Childhood , 2004, looked at how food intake could possibly affect the behavior of 400 children. The children were monitored and were on a strict diet that eliminated artificial preservatives and additives for one month. After being free of these chemicals for one month, they were given fruit drinks loaded with chemical additives four colorings and one preservative. The study showed that just by adding this to their diet that the medical researchers and the parents saw without equivocation that the children's attention span, moods, and ability to get along with other children had been impacted negatively.

One of the authors of the study, psychologist James Stevenson, commented that his thinking on food additives and their impact on our health had changed. His comment was " I'd worked in hyperactivity for a number of years and originally thought that diet was probably important only in an exceptional, odd group of children. Having done this work, I've changed my mind. Additives seem to be shifting behavior towards the more hyperactive end."

Go organic or go to your farmer's market to get away from at least eating chemicals. Purify your water and make sure you pH the water back to at least around 7.0. As far as breathing it, get at least a HEPA filter for the room you where you sleep.
