subject: More Ways To Sell To People Who Don't Win Your Auction On Ebay [print this page] You may know that if someone wins your auction, but doesn't complete the transaction, you can use eBay's Second Chance Offer to offer the item to the next highest bidder. But what many eBay sellers DON'T know is that if you have more than one of the SAME item to sell, you can also use the Second Chance Offer facility anyway, even if the winner of your auction DOES complete the transaction.
Just send an email via eBay to another one of your bidders (who must be interested in your product since they bid on it!) offering them a second chance to buy the product, at the price they last bid for it. eBay sets up a special page to allow them to do this, which is the same as your original auction page with the addition of a Buy It Now button to allow the previous under-bidder to buy your product at the price that they last bid.
You don't have to pay for this service up front but if the under-bidder does buy then you have to pay the same fee to eBay as you would if it was a normal auction. This is an excellent way to add bidders who DIDN'T win your auction on to your customer list.
And here's another way to sell to people who didn't win your eBay auction ...
Did you know that you can put one link in your listing to another webpage that further describes your item? Well you can and the following is taken from eBay's links policy:
"When linking to a page that further describes the item you are selling, that page may contain links to other pages that offer items for sale outside of eBay. This is permitted, provided the intent of the link is to further describe your item".
So, you can put a brief description of your item in your eBay listing with a link that says: "For more information on this item, click here".
On the webpage that appears when the link is clicked, you MUST have further information about the item that you have listed on eBay. But you can also have links to items that you have for sale outside of eBay. If you don't have your own products to sell through your own website, you can sell other people's products by putting affiliate links on this page.
Then, if someone decides not to buy your item, but clicks on your affiliate links and buys someone else's product instead - you still get paid!
Or you can display Google Ads on this webpage and earn money each time someone clicks on one.
You can also use the little known eBay Classified Ad listing format to sell your own products that aren't listed on eBay, to sell other people's products through joint ventures or affiliate links or to obtain visitors' contact details to add to your list.
