subject: How To Craft A Sales Page That Sells! [print this page]

Sometimes using a vendor's sales page just won't cut it. Often it can be disadvantageous and sometimes using one will cause you to leave half your commissions behind.

There are no great mysteries behind what makes a great sales page. There are just some strategies that experts use. A prudent Affiliate Marketer checks out successful sales pages and emulates them. However, do not copy directly from a sales page. Take ideas from good pre-sales pages and use them.

1. Be honest. Honestly is always, always, always the best policy. Don't promote something that is poor. Only promote something that is good and will actually do the thing that it claims to do.

2. Don't 'sell' the product. By that I mean don't use hyperbolic language and hype up your product if you can't back it up. This is a sales page it should also contain informative content. If at all possible give proof that the product worked for you. If it improved your lifestyle show how it did so. Pictures and video's offer the best proof. If you know someone else whose life was also improved by the product or who highly recommends it include them as a case study.

3. If you are using a case study make your headline as specific as possible. '37 Year Old Man Loses 35 Pounds In 6 Weeks By Doing This For 29 Minutes A Day' is far better than 'Man Loses Weight'. That is an extreme example but the more specifics you can give the better.

Remember the case study doesn't necessarily have to be on someone else, it could be on you. However, this must tie in with point one - you must be honest. Don't say something that isn't true.

4. Be concise with your content. We live in the Entertainment Age not the Information Age as many people maintain. People's attention spans as a result are quite short, so the more concise you can be the better your results will be.

Use your language sparsely don't use a long word where a short word will do. Keep the adverbs and adjectives to a minimum. However, your headlines should be bold and attention seeking. Try and use words that grab people's attention. Words that are not used in an everyday context are perfect for this.

Ideally, you want to take everyday words and use them out of normal context. Here is an example 'Man Loses Waist To Freakish Regime'. This draws the reader's attention.

5. Lure people to your sales pages by offering hidden bonuses. Offering a useful, relevant bonus is a great way to get people to buy your affiliated product. Take the above and put them into practice. Not only will having a great sales letter not hurt your chances of adding to your commission it will greatly increase them.
