I understand that I have a long way to go. The greatest accomplishment I have achieved was Graduating from the Louisiana Youth Challenge Program in 2001 at the age of 16. I was taken out of school at the age of 13. I tried to go back at the age of 15 but I was too far behind. I made a decision to change my life. I knew that if I did not take a step out on my own, that I would be stuck in the same routine for the rest of my life. I no longer wanted to fail; I wanted to excel from that point on.
When I graduated I was the most accomplished cadet in the class. I was chosen for Color guard, Natural Helpers, 1st Sgt. and voted Prom Queen at the end of the Cycle. I was so proud, and so motivated. I had done the best that I could and saw results. Many difficult trials have come my way sense that time. I try to focus on the good things that I have done and sometimes that can be nearly impossible, but I drive on. I still have many things that I want to accomplish and with a little help I know that I can succeed. Sometimes I think that someone just needs a helping hand and as you get older, you find that a helping hand can be very difficult to come by.
I come from a very poor background. My father died early on when I was only 3 years old leaving my mother to take care of my sister and me. She did the best she could with the situation that she had been given. She still tries her hardest to give us everything that we need. I appreciate everything that she has done for us. I now understand how difficult it must have been for her to raise two small girls. I have high hopes that one day I will be able to repay her in some way. I have tried different things; after I graduated from The Youth Challenge Program I attended Baton Rouge Community College. I did well but it was very difficult due to the fact that I did not have the proper background education. I decided that I needed to learn a trade so I started looking into different options. My mother is the person that suggested medical transcription at home. I have looked into it and find that this may be just what I have been looking for.
