It is hard to be impressed with companies that are state owned and T-Mobiles success story often gets passed because Germanys government is pretty supportive of state-owned brands. However, this is not to say that T-Mobile is not a great company. In fact, they are one of the most systematic and efficiently operated telecommunications company in the world. They are currently the third largest operator in the UK (next to Vodafone and Orange Mobile) and hold the seventh place in the worlds top mobile network operators. They also penetrated the UK market, which is quite a feat since Vodafone has a very good hold of the UK mobile industry and Frances Orange Mobile is an equally powerful company. T-Mobile, through its innovations and wisely made partnerships, has been able to establish a degree of success where many other local companies have failed. The UK however, is not the only place outside of Germany where T-Mobile has found success. Other European Countries After gaining control of the mobile industry in Germany (where T-Mobile has over 26 million subscribers), the company later spread out to various European countries such as Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, Netherlands and more. T-Mobile Austria began operations in 2001 after it acquired the max.mobil network. In Croatia, Deutsche Telekom acquired 35% of the shares for Hrvatski Telekom to gain a foothold in the country. This was later increased to 51% as the HT network was later absorbed and rebranded as T-Mobile Croatia. T-Mobile was among the first to establish a mobile network in the Czech Republic. The company originally used the name Paegas but would later be known as T-Mobile Czech Republic. T-Mobile also provides services such as EDGE, 3G and HSDPA in Hungary though they do not directly control the Mangyar Telekom. As for Macedonia, T-Mobile operated under the brand Mobimak before it introduced the global T-Mobile brand. They have over a million subscribers in Macedonia. In Montenegro, the company operates the T-Mobile Montenegro network which they established after the company purchased the MoNet GSM network. In the Netherlands, T-Mobile is slowly establishing market dominance as it recently acquired the Orange Netherlands network. T-Mobile does not have any existing network in Poland, but they do own 93% of the Era network. T-Mobile is also the largest operator in Slovak as it operates the T-Mobile Slovensko network The US Market Despite being a German company, T-Mobile was able to penetrate the American market easily with its international brand. Back in 2007, T-Mobile USA purchased SunCom Wireless and became one of the largest networks to operate Northern America. Other Mobile Networks T-Mobile does more than operate its own networks, it also owns major shares of mobile network operators in other countries. The companies which T-Mobile has large stakes are the following: Albanias AMC, Bulgarias GLOBUL, Bosnia/Herzegonias HT d.d. (also known as ERONET), Greeces Cosmote, Polands Era and Romanias Cosmote. It has not been disclosed as to whether T-Mobile actually influences the operations of the above companies but it would be safe to assume that T-Mobile shares it technology with the above.About the Author:
