subject: Why Start A Business On The Internet? [print this page]

It seems almost everybody's trying to be an entrepreneur these days. If you're going to be one, would you rather have it 100% physically and tangibly, or would you rather start a business on the Internet? You might be surprised at how easy the latter is. Here are a handful of reasons why:

To start a business on the Internet is very simple. The same aspects of its non-virtual counterpart are there, naturally, such as drawing up a good business plan and the capital. But on other aspects, it's quite different. Advertising, for example, is so much more convenient. Start with a professional-sounding and catchy domain name. You then promote visits to your website under that domain name not by setting up billboard-size ads but as simple as tweeting followers on Twitter or regularly updating a Facebook fan page for your business.

When customers like your products or services, word of mouth is as easy as sending to friends an email with your website's link. Collecting the money earned is much safer as well-imagine not having to personally face the occasional angry or dissatisfied customer. Your website will have to be recognized as safe and legitimate too, of course. People are most likely not going to come back to it or recommend it to friends if they don't receive the expected service and delivery from you.

So you see, it really is quite simpler to start a business on the Internet. As convenient as matters are through it, though, it still takes the same skills and attitude required of an entrepreneur. So keep that fire of resolve burning so you can endure both the highs and lows of having an online business.
