Samsung have now released their latest addition to the Galaxy Series, the new Samsung Galaxy Spica is a smaller brother to the original i7500 model and is also known as the Samsung Galaxy Lite and by the phones model number as the i5700. This new Samsung phone is the second from the manufacturer to be powered by the Android operating system and also features some great connectivity options including HSDPA for fast downloads, WiFi and Bluetooth as well as EDGE technology. Initially released as a SIM Free phone, the Samsung Galaxy Spica is available in its original black casing with red accents, there is a second colour variant planned for release shortly white features a white casing with 'Android green' coloured accents. There are also network releases due for the Samsung Galaxy Spica which will greatly reduce the purchase price with a network subsidy, however the SIM Free phone is unlocked to all network operators allowing consumers to simply slide in their own SIM card either on pay as you go or contract and continue using their existing service and mobile number. Samsung Galaxy Spica One stand out feature of the Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica is its 800MHz processor which is much faster than most other Android devices. Processor speed is becoming increasingly important in the smartphone market, although there's more to performance than raw megahertz. The Galaxy Spica also features a 3.2" touchscreen display, GPS plus a digital compass, a 3.2 megapixel camera and 3G support.Running on Android 1.5 (Cupcake), the Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica is supposed to be a cheaper alternative to Samsung I7500 Galaxy aimed at a more youthful target audience. Other features of this new Samsung device include a 3.5mm audio jack for using your own headphones, Android Chrome Lite browser for quick internet surfing, expandable memory with MicroSD cards up to 32GB and Google Maps with access to the Android Market for up to 20,000 apps available.About the Author:
