subject: Pros And Cons Of Choosing Medicine As A Profession [print this page]

Positive sides of choosing medicine as a would-be profession

Medicine is one of the most ancient and honorable professions. It requires good memory, diligence and strong love for people. This work requires responsibility for the patients lives and health and it presupposes a certain stress of the medical worker. But at the same time their salary is one of the highest nowadays. For example, anesthesiologist gains a lead in the list of 20 the most well paid professions.

Certainly it is useful to know everything about the latest researches in the sphere of medicine. It means that all the relatives may receive a qualified free of charge consultation whenever they need it. At the same time it could help to care for their health as well. If a doctor or some his relative falls ill, all the achievements of the contemporary medicine will be used. Unfortunately, there are still cases in which medicine still can not help.

Negative sides of choosing medicine as a would-be profession

On the other hand, knowing too many symptoms, the medical workers may diagnose diseases which they do not actually have. The doctors always worry about their childrens health too much. They may panic even if the child scratched his/her knee slightly. The fact is that they know the worse consequences to which the scratch may lead. And it is the first thing they start to look for in the childs symptoms.

The necessity of constant contact with the infectious patients is another question. All the doctors and medical nurses are in the high-risk group. But having taken the Hippocratic Oath they have no choice. Medical aid is to be provided to every patient. That is why it is very important

to be careful not knowing the patients diagnosis;

follow all the labor safety instructions;

to take care of ones own health.
